Triin Vana
Supervisor-Coach (Level 8), Trainer
About
My superpower is creating a space where clarity and balance can be found in complex situations, bringing out the strengths of individuals and teams, maintaining presence, lightness and curiosity. I also enable looking at difficult situations without judgment and neutrally, adding humor to the process, which makes moving forward easier and more enjoyable. I am a supervisor, coach and trainer, and I am interested in how people and organizations really function. I am a seeker – a seeker of joy, balance, simple being and wisdom. I like to create space where one can pause for a moment, think and see things more clearly. For me, it's important that there is joy and lightness in life and that the perspective through which we view our life and work is carried by curiosity and gentleness. I work as my own employer and partner with very different specialists, leaders, teams and organizations in the public and private sectors as well as in civil society organizations. I am a founding member and faculty of the International Supervision and Coaching Institute. It's important to me that the supervision and coaching process is meaningful and creates value, enabling people to do their work thoughtfully, see the whole picture and their strengths even in difficult situations. That work life doesn't drain energy, but creates space for presence, lightness and balance. Humor, laughter and gentle curiosity – including towards oneself – are for me a natural part of work culture and inner strength that supports progress and cooperation. I believe that we create our work and cooperation culture through how we speak – about ourselves, colleagues and clients. More broadly, I believe we also create our lives through language, meanings are born in relationship and context. There is no absolute truth – everyone has their own view and experience, and understanding is formed in a specific moment and being together with those people. Therefore, I value not-knowing and curiosity, which create space to truly listen and understand. I believe in a systemic view – a person, team and organization are part of a larger whole. Behavior, choices and results are formed in relationships, and change in one part always affects the whole. I believe that a team and organization are like a living organism, with their own past, creative force and survival strategies and patterns, their own identity and needs. Exploring and becoming aware of all this creates balance and vitality. My mission is to support people, leaders and teams in seeing the whole, finding clarity and making conscious choices. In a simple way, with curiosity and an open mind, to seek contact with who a person, team or organization really is – where they come from, what they carry, what supports them and what they are capable of. When this foundation is strong, life force can flow freely and everything undertaken carries more clarity, strength and success. My values are curiosity and open mind, balance and gentleness towards oneself and others. Courage to look at the whole and respect each person's unique experience. Joy and lightness as an inner attitude – not superficiality, but trust in life's movement. I value not-knowing as an opportunity from which new understanding can be born. My experience working as a supervisor and coach began in 2006. I am a founding member and faculty of the International Supervision and Coaching Institute, training future supervisors and coaches and supporting their professional development. I am grateful for the opportunity to teach, as it allows me to continuously learn and make sense of my supervisory work. I have long-term management experience in healthcare and social sectors. I have created and led organizations, worked as an expert and trainer in quality and development projects, and supported teams and leaders in development and change processes. I have been involved in service development, using service design principles and systemic view to create functional and user-centered solutions. An important part of my work life has been training leaders and teams, as well as training specialists working in the mental health field and with vulnerable client groups. I have integrated my various work and learning experiences into supervision and coaching practice, which allows understanding both detail and the whole and working at different levels – client work, services and work processes, team and management, organization and broader context, i.e., systemic view. My approach is based on humanistic, systemic and solution-focused approaches. I believe that a person always has an inner direction towards growth and wholeness, and development happens in a safe, accepting and attentive environment. People, teams and organizations always function in mutual relationships – becoming aware of patterns, roles and processes helps see the whole and understand how changes in one part affect the entire system. Solution-focused focus directs attention to possibilities, strengths and existing resources, supporting conscious movement forward and finding new solutions. Methodologically, I combine different tools according to purpose and situation: Solution-focused coaching and supervision, Appreciative approach in team development (Appreciative Inquiry), Structural constellation techniques, Narrative approach, Process work techniques, Metaphor cards and other creative tools. I have completed supervisor, coach and organizational developer training (Institut für Supervision Organisation Kommunikation Den Rote Faden, 2006) and MBA in service design and management at University of Tartu Pärnu College (2018). Longer continuing education is related to systemic supervision and management and systemic coaching and constellation: Training in Systemic Coaching and Constellations – Fundamentals Parts I, II, III (Coaching Constellations Ltd, 2017–2025); Business constellations and systemic organizational development (Center for Practical Psychology and Systemic Research OK, 2021–2023). Additionally, various method-based trainings: Solution-focused brief therapy basic course, Process work approach in team and individual supervision, Motivational interviewing, The Practical Implementation of Appreciative Inquiry, Systemic approach in organizational consulting and supervision, Psychological safety in organizations, etc. I hold the highest level 8 supervisor qualification from the Estonian Supervision and Coaching Association, which confirms continuous practice, self-development and contribution to the development of the supervision field.
